Kit Planes

One option in building the plane of your dreams is to purchase a "kit plane".  A kit plane, otherwise known as an amateur-built or experimental aircraft is designed for recreation (and education) purposes.  Kit planes are aircraft constructed from manufactured kits that may include some major sub-assemblies and/or pre-assembled components.

These small aircraft are considered an "experimental" by the FAA and "amateur-built" by Transport Canada. Both Canada and the US have certain conditions that must be met in order to obtain a Certificate of Airworthiness for your aircraft.

In the US a 51% rule exists, that limits the amount of commercial assistance that can be contracted during the construction of amateur-built airplanes.

In Canada there is no 51% rule which allows the owner/builder to seek out as much or as little commercial assistance as he/she wants.

Our staff works diligently with you to ensure that your aircraft meets the appropriate requirements.

Don't worry if you don't know where to start. We can consult with you on which kits or manufacturers to choose to build the aircraft of your dreams. Simply contact us to discuss your needs.
